Multiswitch Kathrein EXR 2508 Γκρι

The Kathrein EXR 2508 Grey multiswitch distributes four satellite levels along with terrestrial signals to up to eight receivers. It has one terrestrial input and four satellite inputs, with eight outputs, and operates across the 47–862 MHz frequency range. The unit includes an integral amplifier and pre-emphasis to compensate for cable attenuation, features high isolation between outputs, and is intended for indoor installation. The multiswitch accepts remote power feeding on the horizontal low inputs and allows terrestrial reception even when satellite receivers are switched off.

Advantages

The multiswitch requires only one downlink per receiver (two for twin receivers) and enables independent selection of horizontal/vertical and low/high polarization per receiver by using the 14/18 V and 0/22 kHz control signals over the coaxial cable. Built-in amplification keeps satellite signal attenuation low, while pre-emphasis equalises attenuation across long cable runs. Passive terrestrial band coverage (5–862 MHz) and high output isolation reduce interference between receivers. The device is compact and low-power, operating with a supply voltage of 198–253 V AC and a typical current draw of 20 mA.

How to use

Connect the four satellite inputs and the terrestrial input to the corresponding feeds. Run coaxial cables from the eight outputs to the receivers, ensuring F-type connectors are properly tightened. Control each receiver’s feed polarity and band using the receiver’s 14/18 V and 0/22 kHz commands sent over the coax. If remote feeding is required, provide power via the horizontal low inputs; other inputs remain voltage-free to allow compatibility with control systems such as UAS 485/585. Mount the unit indoors in a dry, ventilated location and follow local regulations for mains connection.

Recommendations

For best performance, use high-quality coaxial cable with correctly installed F-type connectors, keep cable runs as short as practicable, and verify receiver settings for voltage and tone control. When planning larger cascaded systems, factor in the amplifier gain and pre-emphasis to maintain adequate signal levels at the furthest outputs.
