The ShiverPeaks BS78046-5 Grey 5m SUB-D serial cable is a 5-metre connection cable designed to transmit serial data between devices that use a SUB-D interface. Constructed with a flexible grey jacket and strain-relief molded ends, the cable provides a stable physical connection for point-to-point serial communication. Its length supports installations where devices are positioned at some distance, while the SUB-D connector format remains compatible with common serial ports found in industrial equipment, legacy computers, routers, and instrumentation.

Advantages

This serial cable offers reliable signal transfer with robust mechanical construction that reduces connector wear and maintains contact integrity over repeated insertions. The 5 m length balances reach and manageable cable routing, and the neutral grey jacket integrates unobtrusively into professional and office environments. The SUB-D connector form factor ensures broad compatibility with devices that require D‑sub serial interfaces.

Key specifications

• Cable length: 5 m
• Connector type: SUB‑D (D‑sub) serial connector
• Outer jacket color: grey
• Typical use: serial data transmission (RS‑232/RS‑422/RS‑485 compatible systems where appropriate)
• Construction: flexible insulated conductor with molded connector strain relief

How to use

Connect the SUB‑D connector to the matching serial port on each device, ensuring the pins align and the connector is seated fully before securing any screws or latches. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and sources of electrical interference; avoid tightly coiling the cable or placing it near high‑power mains wiring. For bidirectional communication, verify the correct serial protocol and pinout on both devices and set matching serial parameters (baud rate, parity, data bits, stop bits) in the communicating equipment.
