The ShiverPeaks SP711-SLR Red 1m Cat6 U/UTP is a 1 metre network patch cable designed for Ethernet connections that require Cat6 performance. Constructed with four twisted pairs and unshielded overall with individual pair screening omitted (U/UTP), the cable supports high-speed data transmission for typical home and office environments. Fitted with RJ-45 connectors plated in gold, the cable provides consistent electrical contact and corrosion resistance while its red jacket makes cable identification and visual routing simple.

Advantages

The cable delivers Cat6 performance suitable for gigabit Ethernet and improved signal integrity compared with earlier standards. Gold-plated RJ-45 connectors reduce contact resistance and help maintain reliable connectivity over repeated insertions. The 1 m length minimizes excess slack in patching scenarios and the bright red sheath improves visibility for troubleshooting and structured cabling organization.

Suitable for

• Connecting switches, patch panels and wall outlets within racks or desktop setups
• Home networking between routers, modems and computers
• Short runs in office workstations for gigabit Ethernet connections
• Colour-coded installations where clear cable identification is required

Key specifications

• Category: Cat6 (suitable for Gigabit Ethernet)
• Cable length: 1 m
• Topology: U/UTP (overall unshielded with unshielded pairs)
• Connector type: RJ-45, gold-plated contacts
• Conductor: stranded or solid conductors suitable for patching (verify with vendor if required)
• Outer jacket colour: red
• Typical applications: 1000BASE-T and other Ethernet standards within Cat6 performance limits

How to use

Insert the RJ-45 connectors into the Ethernet ports of your networking devices until the latch clicks to ensure a secure connection. Use the 1 m cable for short patching runs between devices in close proximity such as between a switch and a patch panel or a desktop PC and wall outlet. Avoid bending the cable sharply near the connector and route it to reduce mechanical stress. For consistent performance, do not exceed the recommended channel length limits for Cat6 infrastructure when combining patch cords with permanent links.

Recommendations

For best results, use this Cat6 patch cable within a structured cabling channel where total link length remains within Cat6 specifications. Keep the cable away from strong electromagnetic sources and avoid tight bends; store spare lengths coiled loosely to preserve cable geometry.
