The ShiverPeaks Networking Cable S/CONN 08-47015 0.5m Cat8.1 U/FTP Black is a short-length Ethernet patch cable built to support high-speed data transmission in compact installations. Compliant with Cat8.1 performance, this 0.5 meter cable features foil-shielded twisted pairs (U/FTP) and RJ-45 connectors on both ends. The black jacket provides a neutral appearance for rack, desktop, or home network setups while the robust connector terminations are intended for reliable, low-latency connections between switches, routers, patch panels and network devices.

Advantages

The cable’s Cat8.1 standard enables transmission at higher frequencies and improved crosstalk performance compared with lower-category cables, suitable for demanding network links. U/FTP shielding around each pair reduces electromagnetic interference and helps maintain signal integrity in environments with adjacent cabling or electronic equipment. Its short 0.5 m length minimizes excess cable slack and clutter in dense rack or desktop environments, simplifying cable management. RJ-45 terminations maintain compatibility with standard Ethernet ports without requiring specialized connectors.

Key specifications

• Length: 0.5 m
• Category: Cat8.1
• Shielding: U/FTP (overall unshielded with foil around each pair)
• Connectors: RJ-45 on both ends
• Color: Black
• Typical applications: High-frequency Ethernet links, data center patching, short interconnects

How to use

Insert the RJ-45 connector into the Ethernet port of the relevant device until the latch clicks. Use this 0.5 m cable to connect adjacent equipment such as a switch to a patch panel, a switch to a server, or a router to a nearby network appliance. Ensure both devices support the intended network speeds and that connectors are fully seated. For best performance, avoid sharp bends at the connector boot and maintain a gentle bend radius consistent with the cable construction.

Recommendations

Route the cable away from high-power electrical sources or large unshielded bundles to reduce potential interference. In rack installations, label both ends for easy identification and keep the cable length appropriate for the distance to prevent unnecessary stress on connectors.
