The ShiverPeaks Networking Cable S/CONN 08-26495 Black 40m Cat6a S/FTP is a 40-metre network cable designed for high-speed wired connections. Compliant with Cat6a performance parameters, the cable incorporates S/FTP shielding to reduce electromagnetic interference and crosstalk, and is terminated with RJ-45 plugs featuring gold-plated contacts for consistent signal transfer. The black outer jacket provides a discreet appearance suitable for office, server room, or home installations.

Advantages

The S/FTP shielding structure offers improved protection against external noise compared with unshielded alternatives, helping to maintain stable throughput at higher frequencies. Cat6a classification supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet over suitable distances and provides headroom for bandwidth-intensive applications. Gold-plated RJ-45 contacts enhance corrosion resistance and contact reliability, while the 40 m length allows flexible routing between equipment without additional joins.

Suitable for

• 10 Gigabit Ethernet connections in small offices and data closets
• High-bandwidth applications such as video streaming, large file transfer, and virtualization
• Wired connections between switches, routers, NAS devices, and workstations
• Environments where reduced electromagnetic interference is important (near power lines or dense cabling)

Key specifications

• Length: 40 metres
• Category: Cat6a
• Shielding: S/FTP (overall screen with individually shielded pairs)
• Connector type: RJ-45 with gold-plated contacts
• Jacket colour: Black

How to use

Connect one RJ-45 end to the network interface on your device (switch, router, NIC, or other Ethernet-enabled equipment) and the other end to the corresponding port on the network infrastructure. Ensure connectors are fully inserted until they click to secure the connection. Route the cable away from high-power electrical sources where possible; use cable management accessories to avoid sharp bends or kinks and to maintain bend radius recommendations for Cat6a performance. For permanent installations, verify port speed and duplex settings after connection.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, avoid coiling the cable tightly and maintain separation from mains power cables. When deploying in mixed-cable environments, label both ends to simplify maintenance. If running the cable outdoors or in exposed areas, consider additional protective conduits or cables rated for the intended environment.
