3/8" VDE sockets designed for safe electrical work, featuring a dual-layer insulation system: an outer red VDE insulation and a yellow inner core that becomes visible if the outer layer is damaged. Each socket is individually tested to IEC 60900 at 10,000 V and certified for safe use at the approved working voltage of 1,000 V. The set includes metric socket sizes with a 3/8" drive and compact dimensions (46 mm length, 23 mm width). Made in Taiwan by Wera, model 05004955001.

Advantages

The dual-color insulation provides a clear visual indicator of damage: exposure of the yellow inner core signals compromised outer insulation. Individual IEC 60900 testing at 10,000 V confirms electrical safety for work up to 1,000 V. Compact socket dimensions and a standardized 3/8" drive make the set compatible with common ratchets and extensions. Manufactured by Wera, ensuring consistent build quality and precision.

Suitable for

• Electrical installation and maintenance on live or de-energized circuits up to 1,000 V
• Service and repair work on household and commercial electrical equipment
• Professional electricians and technicians requiring insulated sockets
• Use with 3/8" ratchets and extension bars

How to use

Select the correct metric socket size for the fastener and attach it to a compatible 3/8" ratchet or extension. Before use, inspect the red outer insulation for cuts, abrasions, or deformation; if the yellow core is visible, do not use the socket. When working on live circuits up to the approved voltage, follow standard electrical safety procedures, such as using appropriate personal protective equipment and verifying de-energization where applicable. After use, store the sockets in a dry, clean case to preserve insulation integrity.

Recommendations

Do not use these insulated sockets if the yellow inner core is exposed or if the outer insulation shows any damage. Only use with tools and accessories rated for the same or higher voltage, and follow local safety regulations when working on electrical installations.
