The BlueOptics SFP28-25G-ER-DE-BO is a fiber optic network transceiver module designed for 25 Gbit/s connections. With an SFP28 interface and a lightweight 40 g housing, this module supports high-speed data transmission over fiber infrastructure and is compatible with systems that accept SFP28 form-factor modules. The compact design and standardized interface allow integration into switches, routers and optical line cards for extended-reach fiber links.

Advantages

The module provides a 25 000 Mbit/s maximum data transfer rate using the SFP28 form factor, enabling increased bandwidth for demanding applications. Its fiber optic operation reduces electromagnetic interference and supports long-distance links when used with appropriate single-mode fiber and optics. The small size and low weight simplify installation and spare-part handling in datacenter and carrier environments.

Suitable for

• Upgrading network ports to 25 Gbit/s in data centers and enterprise networks
• High-bandwidth server-to-switch uplinks and switch-to-switch connections
• Long-reach fiber links when paired with compatible single-mode fiber and optics

Key specifications

• Interface type: SFP28
• Maximum data transfer rate: 25000 Mbit/s (25 Gbit/s)
• Physical weight: 0.04 kg (40 g)
• Fiber optic transceiver designed for single-mode long-reach operation (ER)
• Hot-pluggable small form-factor module compatible with SFP28 ports

How to use

Ensure the host device supports SFP28 transceivers and 25 Gbit/s operation before installation. Handle the module by its housing and avoid touching the optical connector end-face. Insert the transceiver into the SFP28 port until it latches, then connect the appropriate fiber optic cable and verify link and signal status on the host equipment. Use dust caps when the module is not connected to protect the optical interfaces.

Recommendations

Use with compatible single-mode fiber and follow manufacturer guidelines for optical power budgets and connector types. Verify firmware or compatibility lists for the host equipment to ensure proper link negotiation at 25 Gbit/s and monitor temperature and link status during initial deployment. Store unused modules in protective packaging to prevent contamination of the fiber interfaces.
