The InLine Fiber Optical Duplex Cable SC/SC 50/125µm OM3 0.5m is a short-range multimode fiber patch cable engineered for reliable, high-speed data transmission. Featuring SC connectors on both ends and a 50/125 µm core/cladding structure with OM3 grading, the cable supports full duplex links and is suitable for dense networking environments where low insertion loss and controlled modal bandwidth are required.

Advantages

This duplex cable offers stable optical performance with consistent attenuation and return loss characteristics appropriate for short multimode links. The SC/SC connector pairing ensures secure push-pull mating and straightforward installation in patch panels, transceivers, and network equipment. OM3 specification provides better bandwidth and improved laser-optimized performance compared with older multimode grades, enabling higher data rates over the specified short distance. Its 0.5 m length minimizes excess cable in racks and reduces signal reflections caused by unnecessary cable loops.

Suitable for

• Interconnects between switches, patch panels and transceivers in data centers
• Short-distance multimode fiber links in local area networks (LAN)
• Server-to-switch or switch-to-switch connections within racks
• Optical equipment testing and temporary installations requiring full duplex

Key specifications

• Fiber type: Multimode OM3
• Core / cladding diameter: 50/125 µm
• Connector type: SC to SC duplex
• Length: 0.5 m
• Mode: Full duplex
• Typical usage: Short-range, laser-optimized multimode links

How to use

Connect each SC connector into the corresponding SC adapter or port until a positive click is felt, ensuring correct orientation of the duplex keying where applicable. Route the 0.5 m cable within the rack or cable management system without sharp bends; follow the manufacturer’s recommended minimum bend radius for multimode fiber to prevent increased attenuation. For insertion or removal, depress the SC latch and pull straight out to avoid lateral stress on connectors. Verify link integrity with optical testing equipment after installation to confirm acceptable loss and continuity.

Recommendations

Store and handle the OM3 duplex cable in a clean environment, keep dust caps on connectors when not in use, and use an optical cleaning tool before mating to minimize contamination. For permanent installations across longer distances, evaluate singlemode or higher-grade multimode options; use this 0.5 m OM3 cable primarily for short patching and intra-rack connections.
