The SKIL SANDER ORBITAL 7422AA 280W is a compact orbital sander designed for efficient surface preparation and finishing. With a 280W motor and an orbital sanding action, this sander is intended for smoothing wood, removing paint or varnish residues and preparing surfaces for finishing. The tool's compact body and ergonomic shape support comfortable handling during extended use, while the integrated dust collection system helps maintain a cleaner work area. A hook-and-loop sanding pad enables quick abrasive changes to keep workflow uninterrupted.

Advantages

The orbital action and moderate 280W power deliver a balance between material removal and finish quality, reducing the risk of gouging. The compact and lightweight design improves maneuverability in tight spaces and on detailed workpieces. Built-in dust collection minimizes airborne dust and simplifies cleanup. The hook-and-loop system allows fast sanding paper changes, increasing productivity and reducing downtime. Overall construction provides stable operation suitable for continuous use in DIY and light professional applications.

How to use

Attach the appropriate grit sanding paper to the hook-and-loop pad, secure the dust collection container or connect a compatible vacuum if required, and switch the sander on while holding it flat against the work surface. Move the sander with steady, overlapping passes, avoiding excessive pressure that could cause uneven sanding. Regularly check and replace the sanding paper to maintain consistent performance and empty the dust container as needed to preserve dust extraction efficiency.

Recommendations

Use progressively finer abrasives to achieve the desired surface finish: start with coarser grit for material removal and finish with finer grit for smoothing. Operate the sander with light, steady pressure and keep it moving to prevent creating dips. For large jobs or prolonged use, consider connecting a shop vacuum to the dust port for improved dust management and to extend the life of filters and internal components.
