3M Δίσκος στήριξης 64857, 115 mm, σπείρωμα M14, εύκαμπτος κόκκινος

3M Backing Pad 64857 is a 115 mm flexible red backing pad with an M14 thread that attaches to most angle grinders and random orbital sanders using a compatible arbor adapter. It is designed to secure hook-and-loop abrasive discs and to provide controlled support and conformity on both flat and slightly contoured surfaces. The pad’s flexibility helps maintain even contact while sanding, finishing and polishing, reducing the risk of gouging and improving surface consistency.

Advantages

The flexible construction distributes pressure evenly across the abrasive disc, enabling smoother material removal and more uniform finishes. The hook-and-loop fastening system allows quick disc changes and reliable retention during operation. Its 115 mm diameter offers a balance between working area and maneuverability, and the M14 threaded fitting ensures compatibility with a wide range of power tools commonly used in metalworking, automotive and woodworking applications.

How to use

Mount the backing pad securely to the tool spindle using the M14 thread, ensuring the tool is disconnected from power during installation. Fit a compatible hook-and-loop abrasive disc onto the pad, aligning it centrally for balanced rotation. Operate the tool at the recommended speed for the abrasive disc and workpiece material, applying light, even pressure and moving the tool steadily to avoid concentrated loading. Inspect the pad and disc regularly for wear or damage and replace components as needed to maintain safe operation and consistent results.

Recommendations

Use the backing pad with abrasives rated for the intended material and speed. For best results on contoured surfaces, select softer discs or lower operating pressure to increase conformity. Store the pad away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to preserve flexibility and hook-and-loop performance.
