The Datalogic Magellan 1500i is a fixed bar code reader designed for retail point of sale, pharmacy counters and customer service desks. This compact presentation scanner reads both 1D and 2D bar codes from printed labels and mobile screens, includes Digimarc® Barcode watermark decoding, and uses a high-performance megapixel sensor with custom optics to deliver a large reading area and reliable decoding.

Advantages

The Magellan 1500i combines fast imaging performance and robust decoding algorithms to handle hard-to-read, truncated and damaged codes. Motionix™ motion-sensing allows automatic switching between presentation and handheld modes with an LED aimer and Green Spot good-read confirmation. Consistent, comfortable illumination reduces reflection and flicker for easier scanning of printed and mobile sources. Its compact white plastic housing, multiple mounting options and USB wired connectivity make it suitable for a variety of point-of-sale and service environments.

Suitable for

• Retail point of sale terminals
• Pharmacy counters and prescription processing
• Customer service desks and returns
• Any fixed scanning station requiring 1D and 2D code support

How to use

Place the Magellan 1500i on the counter or mount it using one of the available mounting options and connect it to a host system via USB. Present items with bar codes within the scanner’s reading area at distances up to about 25 cm. The device will read codes automatically in presentation mode; if picked up, Motionix™ switches the scanner to handheld mode, enabling the LED aimer and Green Spot good-read confirmation. Use standard host software or POS integration to receive decoded data.

Recommendations

For consistent results, keep the scanner’s window clean and position bar codes within the central reading area. Use the scanner in indoor environments consistent with its IP52 rating and avoid prolonged exposure to heavy dust or direct water spray. Ensure host software supports 1D/2D and Digimarc decoding features where required.
