The Hard Disk Drive HPE 300GB 2.5-inch SAS 10000 RPM 618518-001 is a dual-port enterprise internal HDD designed for data centers and server environments that require consistent performance and high availability. With a 300 GB capacity, 2.5-inch form factor and a 10,000 RPM spindle speed, this SAS drive provides a balance of throughput and low latency for mixed and transactional workloads. The dual-port Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface supports redundant connectivity and integration into high-availability storage arrays.

Advantages

This 2.5-inch enterprise HDD delivers predictable performance with a 10,000 RPM rotational speed and a SAS 6 Gbps class interface suitable for mission-critical applications. The dual-port design enables multipath connectivity for improved fault tolerance and continuous operation. The compact 2.5-inch form factor allows greater drive density in server and storage chassis, while the 300 GB capacity is optimized for environments focused on fast access and transactional I/O rather than maximum raw capacity.

Suitable for

• Enterprise servers and storage arrays requiring high availability and dual-path access
• Transaction-heavy databases and virtualization hosts with moderate capacity needs
• RAID configurations where predictable I/O and rotational performance are required
• Environments that prioritize density and reliability over maximum single-drive capacity

Key specifications

• Capacity: 300 GB
• Form factor: 2.5-inch
• Interface: Dual-port SAS (Serial Attached SCSI)
• Rotational speed: 10,000 RPM
• Optimised for enterprise workloads and 24x7 operation

How to use

Install the drive into a compatible server or storage chassis with a 2.5-inch SAS bay following the host vendor’s instructions. Ensure the system supports dual-port SAS devices and configure multipath or redundant paths in the operating system or storage controller for high availability. When adding to RAID arrays, follow recommended rebuild and spare policies to maintain redundancy. Verify firmware and compatibility notes from the server or storage vendor prior to deployment.

Recommendations

Use the HDD in enterprise-class enclosures and controllers that support SAS dual-port connectivity and 10K drives. For best results, deploy as part of a managed storage pool with appropriate cooling, power redundancy and monitoring. Configure multipath I/O or RAID levels according to application I/O patterns and recovery objectives to maximize availability and consistent performance.
