Μετατροπέας δικτύου PLANET FTP-802

The PLANET FTP-802 is a compact network media converter that combines 100Base-FX fiber connectivity with 10/100Base-TX copper and Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector functionality. Designed for extending network links and powering remote devices, the unit converts optical Ethernet signals to electrical Ethernet and supplies DC 48V over a single twisted-pair cable to IEEE 802.3af-compliant powered devices. With a SC multi-mode fiber port, a Fast Ethernet RJ-45 port and a maximum fiber reach of up to 2000 meters (model-dependent), the FTP-802 suits installations that require both long-distance links and remote device power delivery.

Advantages

The FTP-802 integrates media conversion and PoE power sourcing in one device, reducing the need for additional power outlets and extra cabling. It supports IEEE 802.3af PoE to supply DC 48V over Ethernet, preserves transmission performance at 100 Mbps, and uses store-and-forward switching with IEEE 802.3x flow control to help prevent packet loss. Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) and DIP-switch configurable functions improve link monitoring and fault notification. The compact design and compliance with common networking standards make it suitable for service provider, campus and public-area deployments.

Suitable for

• Extending Ethernet links to remote network devices over multi-mode fiber (up to 2000 m)
• Powering IEEE 802.3af compliant devices such as wireless access points and IP cameras via PoE
• Connecting fiber backbones to Fast Ethernet copper segments in campuses, SMBs and public areas
• Deployments requiring a compact media converter with PoE injector functionality

How to use

Install the FTP-802 by connecting the fiber cable (SC) to the 100Base-FX port and the Ethernet device to the RJ-45 10/100Base-TX port. If powering a remote PD (powered device), ensure the PD supports IEEE 802.3af and use a Category 5 (or better) twisted-pair cable; the FTP-802 will deliver DC 48V over the cable while transporting data. Configure any required network settings on the connected devices; the media converter operates transparently and does not require additional software. Use the DIP switch to enable or disable the Link Fault Pass-through (LFP) feature according to monitoring needs.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, place the FTP-802 in a ventilated area within the manufacturer’s specified environmental ranges, use proper multimode fiber and quality Ethernet cables, and verify that powered devices are IEEE 802.3af-compliant. Monitor link status via LFP where available and select the appropriate fiber model to meet your required distance.
