The ShiverPeaks 07-510415 3 m fibre optic cable is a multimode OM5 patch cable with SC connectors on both ends and a 50 µm core diameter. Designed for full-duplex data transmission, this 3-metre cable provides predictable optical performance for short- to medium-range links. It is intended for structured cabling, data centre interconnects, and high-bandwidth signal distribution where an OM5 multimode medium is specified.

Advantages

This fibre optic cable uses OM5 multimode glass with a 50 µm core, enabling wideband multimode performance and support for shortwave wavelength division multiplexing. The SC connectors on both ends provide a stable, push-pull interface for easy insertion and removal in compatible equipment. At 3 m length the cable offers a compact, predictable link with low attenuation for local connections and patching in racks or panels.

Suitable for

• Patch connections between switches, transceivers and patch panels in data centres
• Short-range multimode links in enterprise LAN and telecommunications rooms
• High-bandwidth, shortwave WDM multimode applications where OM5 is required
• Interconnects in structured cabling environments and network racks

Key specifications

• Fibre type: OM5 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Connector type: SC to SC (both ends)
• Cable length: 3 m
• Transmission mode: Full duplex

How to use

Route the 3 m OM5 cable between the two devices to be connected, avoiding tight bends and sharp kinks. Insert the SC connectors into compatible SC ports until the connector latch engages. Confirm both ends are securely seated and power on the connected equipment. For full-duplex operation ensure transceivers or interfaces are configured for corresponding transmit and receive channels. When removing the cable, depress the SC latch and pull the connector straight out to avoid damage.

Recommendations

Store the cable coiled with a gentle radius and protect connector endfaces with dust caps when not in use. Inspect and, if necessary, clean connector endfaces before making permanent connections. Use OM5-specific transceivers or equipment where wideband multimode performance is required; otherwise verify compatibility with existing multimode infrastructure.
