The ShiverPeaks S/CONN 77912/3 is a 2 m OM3 fibre optic patch cable with SC and ST connectors designed for high-speed full duplex data transmission. With a 50 µm core diameter optimized for multimode networks, this fiber cable provides low attenuation and consistent signal performance over short- to medium-range links in data centers, server rooms, and structured cabling installations.

Advantages

This OM3 multimode cable supports high bandwidth applications and is suitable for 10 Gigabit Ethernet over the specified distance. The combination of SC and ST connectors enables easy mating with a wide range of equipment and optical transceivers. The 2 m length offers a balance between routing flexibility and minimal excess slack, while the standardized 50 µm core ensures compatibility with common multimode fiber hardware.

Suitable for

• 10 Gigabit Ethernet links in data centers and LANs
• Interconnects between switches, patch panels, and transceivers
• Server room fiber patching and equipment connectivity
• Multimode fiber test setups and laboratory use

Key specifications

• Fiber type: OM3 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Length: 2 m
• Connector A: SC
• Connector B: ST
• Transmission mode: Full duplex

How to use

Connect the SC end to devices or patch panels that accept SC terminations and the ST end to equipment with ST interfaces, making sure connectors are clean before mating. Route the cable to avoid tight bends and mechanical stress; maintain the minimum bend radius specified by standard multimode fiber guidelines to prevent attenuation increases. For installation in patch cabinets, arrange the cable to minimize crossing and strain on connectors.

Recommendations

Inspect and clean connector endfaces with appropriate fiber cleaning tools before each connection. Use cable management accessories such as Velcro ties and fiber organizers rather than zip ties to avoid compression. Verify link performance with an optical power meter or qualified test equipment after installation to ensure expected throughput and signal levels.
