The ShiverPeaks S/CONN 07-530915 20 m OM5 fibre optic cable with LC and SC connectors provides a stable, high-bandwidth link between network devices. Built with a 50 µm core diameter and designed for full duplex transmission, this fibre cable supports high-speed data transfer and is intended for use in data centres, server rooms and structured cabling installations where multimode OM5 performance is required.

Advantages

This OM5 fibre cable delivers increased wavelength division multiplexing capacity and improved modal performance compared with earlier multimode types, enabling higher aggregated throughput over short and medium distances. The combination of LC and SC connectors ensures compatibility with a wide range of transceivers and patch panels. A 20 m length offers flexibility for rack-to-rack connections while maintaining signal integrity for high-performance network links.

Suitable for

• Data centre trunking and server-to-switch connections
• High-performance enterprise LAN and campus backbone links
• Multimode optic patching between equipment with LC and SC ports
• Environments requiring full duplex, low-latency fibre links

Key specifications

• Fibre type: OM5 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Connector types: LC to SC
• Length: 20 metres
• Transmission mode: Full duplex

How to use

Route the cable following standard cable management practices to avoid tight bends and mechanical stress. Insert the LC connector into the LC port and the SC connector into the SC port until a positive click confirms proper seating. Verify link status through connected equipment and perform an optical power or continuity test if required. For trunk installations, secure the cable with appropriate ties or trays to maintain bend radius and minimize strain.

Recommendations

Maintain the recommended minimum bend radius and avoid exceeding tensile load limits during installation. Clean connector endfaces before mating to prevent optical loss. Use this OM5 cable for short-to-medium range high-bandwidth applications and pair it with compatible multimode transceivers and patch panels to achieve expected performance.
