The ShiverPeaks S/CONN 77940/3 is a 10 m OM3 fibre optic cable with LC connectors on both ends. Designed for multimode networks, it has a 50 µm core diameter and supports full duplex communication to carry high-speed data between network devices. Its 10-metre length provides flexibility for typical rack-to-rack and equipment-to-equipment connections in data centres, server rooms and enterprise networks.

Advantages

This OM3 fibre cable delivers high bandwidth and low attenuation for short to medium distance links. The LC connectors on both ends ensure compact, reliable terminations compatible with modern networking equipment. Full duplex capability allows simultaneous bidirectional data transfer, improving link efficiency in switches, transceivers and patch panels. The 50 µm core is optimised for laser-based multimode transceivers, enabling stable performance for 10 Gbps and other high-speed applications over OM3-rated distances.

Suitable for

• Data centre interconnects and rack cabling
• Server-to-switch and switch-to-switch connections
• Multimode fibre transceiver links (SFP+, SFP28 where applicable)
• Patch panels and structured cabling in enterprise networks

Key specifications

• Fibre type: OM3 multimode
• Core diameter: 50 µm
• Connector type: LC to LC
• Length: 10 m
• Transmission: full duplex

How to use

Route the fibre cable between the devices to be connected, avoiding sharp bends and tight loops. Insert the LC connectors into compatible LC ports on network equipment until they click into place. Ensure both ends are clean before connection by inspecting and, if necessary, cleaning fibre end-faces with appropriate tools. When disconnecting, press the connector latch gently and pull straight out to avoid damaging the ferrule or port. Secure excess cable with gentle loops or Velcro ties to maintain recommended bend radius and prevent strain on connectors.

Recommendations

For optimal performance, use the cable within its OM3 distance and data-rate guidelines and pair it with compatible multimode transceivers. Keep connector end-faces free of dust and contamination, store the cable coiled without tight bends, and avoid mechanical stress near the connector boots.
