The BlueOptics QSFP-100G-AOC20M-BO InfiniBand fibre optic cable 20 m QSFP28 is an active optical cable (AOC) with QSFP28 male connectors on both ends and a 20‑metre multimode fibre assembly. Designed for 100GBASE‑SR4 environments, it integrates a transmitter and receiver on each connector to provide up to 100 Gbps full duplex optical links over short-reach multimode infrastructure. The pre‑assembled AOC removes the need for separate transceivers and patch cords, reducing insertion loss and simplifying data centre and high‑performance computing connectivity.

Advantages

This QSFP28 AOC is manufactured to industry MSA specifications and is compatible with equipment that supports 100GBASE‑SR4 QSFP28 connections. The integrated optical transceivers and high‑quality components deliver stable high‑speed transmission, low latency and immunity to electromagnetic interference. The pre‑terminated design eliminates manual splicing or patching, simplifies deployment and reduces sources of signal degradation. Built‑in digital diagnostics (DDM/DOM) provide real‑time monitoring of voltage, laser bias current, transmit/receive power and temperature when supported by host hardware.

Suitable for

• Data centre spine and leaf connections where 100 Gbps links are required
• High‑performance computing (HPC) clusters and InfiniBand fabrics
• Switch‑to‑switch or switch‑to‑router short‑reach interconnects
• Storage systems and server interconnects requiring low latency

Key specifications

• Connector type: QSFP28 male on both ends
• Link type: Active Optical Cable (AOC) with multimode fibre
• Nominal link length: 20 metres
• Supported protocols: 100GBASE‑SR4, Ethernet, Fibre Channel over Ethernet, SDH/SONET compatible
• Data rate: up to 100 Gbps aggregate
• Monitoring: Digital Diagnostics Monitoring / Digital Optical Monitoring (DDM/DOM) compliant with SFF‑8472 when supported by host
• EMI immunity: optical transmission not susceptible to electromagnetic interference

How to use

Install the cable by inserting each QSFP28 connector into the corresponding QSFP28 port on the devices to be connected, ensuring the connector latch is fully engaged. Use the cable for direct 100G links in compliant switches, routers or storage hardware; the integrated transceivers are recognized by devices that accept QSFP28 AOCs. If your hardware supports DDM/DOM, access diagnostic registers via the host interface to monitor operational parameters. No separate transceivers or patching are required; avoid excessive bending or tensile strain on the cable during installation.

Recommendations

Verify host compatibility for QSFP28 AOCs and DDM/DOM support before deployment. Route the 20 m cable to avoid sharp bends and secure it to prevent strain. Use in environments with multimode fibre infrastructure and observe standard data centre practices for airflow and cable management to maintain optimal performance.
