3M Roloc Backing Pad, 76 mm diameter, Hard DR‑AZ with M14 thread is a purpose-built mounting accessory for Roloc-style abrasive discs. It provides a rigid support surface to maintain stable contact between the abrasive and the workpiece, enabling controlled material removal and consistent surface finish. The pad is compatible with angle grinders and pneumatic tools that accept an M14 threaded arbor and is intended for tasks where a firmer backing improves cut aggression and disc life.

Advantages

The hard DR‑AZ construction delivers reduced pad flex under load, which helps maintain uniform pressure across the abrasive disc and supports faster stock removal. Solid attachment via the Roloc system ensures quick disc changes and secure retention during operation. The 76 mm diameter balances reachable area and maneuverability, making it suitable for medium-detail work while extending abrasive life through improved support.

Suitable for

• Sanding and material removal on metal surfaces
• Surface preparation before welding or painting
• Grinding and deburring of small to medium parts
• Controlled finishing where a firm backing is required

Key specifications

• Backing pad diameter: 76 mm
• Hardness: Hard (DR‑AZ)
• Attachment system: Roloc-compatible
• Thread type: M14 threaded arbor for direct tool mounting
• Intended use: Support for Roloc-style abrasive discs on powered tools

How to use

Fit the backing pad onto the tool spindle using the M14 thread and secure it according to the tool manufacturer's instructions. Attach the Roloc-style abrasive disc by pressing it onto the pad's retention surface until it locks. Operate the tool at the recommended speed for the abrasive disc in use and apply controlled, even pressure to avoid overheating or premature wear. Replace the pad if the retention surface is damaged or if it no longer holds discs securely.

Recommendations

Use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves and hearing protection. Match abrasive disc type and grit to the task and avoid exceeding the maximum speed rating of the backing pad and the abrasive. Inspect the pad and threaded connection for wear or damage before each use and tighten securely to prevent loosening during operation.
