DAWICONTROL Κάρτα PCI DC-644e RAID — 4-Port SATA RAID ελεγκτής

DAWICONTROL PCI Card DC-644e RAID is a four‑port SATA RAID controller designed for desktop and server systems with an available PCI slot. The card provides hardware RAID support to manage multiple SATA drives, enabling configurable arrays that focus on redundancy or performance depending on the chosen RAID level. It is intended for system storage upgrades, creating backup arrays, and supporting small‑scale server storage needs without requiring onboard motherboard RAID.

Advantages

The controller offloads RAID processing from the host CPU to deliver consistent disk management and reduce system overhead. With four SATA ports, it supports a compact multi‑drive configuration for typical desktop or entry‑level server environments. Hardware RAID capability ensures drive arrays remain coherent across power cycles and reboots, and the PCI interface allows compatibility with legacy systems where PCI slots are available. The card's design focuses on straightforward drive connectivity and stable array operation.

Suitable for

• Upgrading desktop PCs with additional SATA storage and RAID capability
• Small office or home server storage arrays for backups and redundancy
• Entry‑level RAID setups for enhanced read/write performance or data protection
• Systems requiring a standalone RAID controller when motherboard RAID is absent or limited

Key specifications

• Interface: 32‑bit PCI slot compatibility
• Drive connectivity: 4 internal SATA ports supporting standard 3.5" and 2.5" SATA drives
• RAID levels supported: hardware RAID modes for common configurations (e.g., RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 10 where applicable)
• Form factor: low‑profile bracket compatibility or standard bracket (depends on package contents)
• Management: onboard RAID configuration and BIOS/firmware level setup utility

How to use

Install the card into an available PCI slot on a powered‑off system and secure it to the chassis. Connect SATA data cables from each drive to the card's SATA ports and attach power to the drives from the system power supply. Power on the system and enter the RAID BIOS/firmware setup utility to create and configure arrays according to required RAID level, stripe size and initialization options. After configuring the array, install or boot the operating system and, if necessary, load any vendor drivers provided by the controller to ensure full OS-level recognition and management of the RAID array.

Recommendations

Use matching-capacity and matching-speed SATA drives for best array stability and performance, and keep current backups before making RAID changes. For systems with critical data, select RAID levels that provide redundancy and consider monitoring array health regularly through available firmware tools or system diagnostics.
