AXIS A9801 Security Relay is a compact device designed to enhance door security when used with Axis network video door stations. Installed on the secure side of the door in a standard installation box, the relay severs the connection to the door strike if the door station is tampered with or dismounted, keeping the door locked until normal function is restored via the relay’s reset button. Additionally, the unit can act as a power transformer to double a 12 V output from a door station to 24 V, enabling control of 24 V locks without extra wiring or a separate power supply.

Advantages

AXIS A9801 provides tamper-resistant protection by cutting the door strike connection if the door station is vandalized, helping to maintain secure locking; it is compact for easy installation in most standard back boxes and includes a reset button to restore normal operation. The relay also offers built-in voltage doubling from 12 V to 24 V, allowing control of higher-voltage locks without additional wiring or external power supplies.

Suitable for

• Door systems using Axis network video door stations
• Installations requiring tamper detection and secure locking
• Setups that need to power or control 24 V locks from a 12 V door station
• Indoor mounting in standard installation boxes

Key specifications

• Model: AXIS A9801 Security Relay (compatible with Axis door stations)
• Function: Tamper-activated relay that cuts door strike connection
• Power feature: Doubles 12 V output to 24 V for lock control
• Mounting: Fits in most standard installation boxes; installed on secure side of door
• Reset: Manual reset button to restore normal function

How to use

Mount AXIS A9801 on the secure side of the door inside a standard installation box and connect it inline with the door strike wiring and the Axis network video door station according to the installation instructions from Axis. If the door station is tampered with, the relay will cut the strike connection, keeping the door locked. Use the built-in reset button to restore normal operation after resolving the tampering event. To control a 24 V lock from a 12 V door station, connect the relay so the device uses its voltage-doubling function following the wiring diagram provided by the manufacturer.

Recommendations

Install AXIS A9801 on the secure (inside) side of the door within a protected installation box, follow Axis installation and wiring instructions, and verify compatibility with your specific Axis network video door station model before installation.
