The Auerswald 90089 analog terminal adapter — 4-port analog extension module provides four standard analog ports to connect telephones, fax machines and other legacy devices to compatible PBX or communication systems. Designed for simple expansion of analog interfaces, the adapter enables integration of existing analog equipment into hybrid telephony environments without complex rewiring or system changes. The device supports standard analog signalling and is intended for use in small office, home office and light commercial installations where a limited number of analog extensions is required.

Advantages

The adapter offers a compact, rack-free solution that adds four analog ports for voice and fax services, maintaining compatibility with common analog devices. Its straightforward installation and compatibility with Auerswald systems reduce setup time and ongoing maintenance. The module conserves physical space and allows gradual migration to digital or VoIP systems while retaining support for legacy endpoints.

Suitable for

• Connecting analog handsets to a PBX or hybrid communication system
• Integrating fax machines into a modern telephony environment
• Supporting legacy devices such as analog alarm panels or payment terminals
• Small office and home office setups requiring a few additional analog lines

Key specifications

• Number of analog ports: 4 FXS ports for direct connection of analog devices
• Signalling support: standard analog signalling (loop, ringing, on-hook/off-hook detection)
• Form factor: compact extension module suitable for shelf or equipment cabinet placement
• Power: low power consumption appropriate for small installations (requires compatible system power or local adapter as specified by the main unit)
• Compatibility: designed to integrate with compatible Auerswald PBX and communication systems

How to use

Install the analog terminal adapter by connecting it to the compatible Auerswald PBX or host communication unit following the manufacturer's mechanical and electrical connection points. Attach each analog device to the module's FXS ports using standard telephone cables. Configure the PBX or host system to recognize and assign extensions to the new analog ports, and verify dial tone, ringing and call setup for each connected device. Perform a brief functional test for voice calls and fax transmission to confirm correct operation.

Recommendations

Place the module in a dry, ventilated area away from strong electromagnetic interference and ensure cable lengths follow recommended limits for analog lines. Use shielded or quality telephone cabling for longer runs and validate compatibility with the host PBX firmware to maintain stable signalling and fax performance.
