Advantages

The reader offers reliable contact card read/write capability with straightforward USB connectivity, enabling fast deployment on workstations without additional power supplies. Its compact desktop form factor and compliance with common smart card standards ensure compatibility with a wide range of contact cards and software ecosystems. The device is built for continuous office use and provides consistent physical card contact and secure data exchange between card and host.

Suitable for

• Employee authentication and secure logon on desktop PCs
• Digital signing and document workflows requiring contact smart cards
• Access to protected applications and e-services in corporate or public sector environments
• Integration with identity management, PKI and single sign-on systems

Key specifications

• Interface: USB connection for host communication and power
• Card type: ISO/IEC contact smart cards
• Form factor: Desktop contact reader with card insertion slot
• Compatibility: Works with standard smart card middleware and operating systems supporting CCID drivers
• Use case: Intended for authentication, digital signatures and secure access workflows

How to use

Connect the reader to an available USB port on the computer and allow the operating system to detect and install the appropriate CCID driver. Insert the contact smart card into the reader's card slot with the chip oriented according to the device marking. Use the card with compatible authentication or signing applications; the reader transmits data between the smart card and host application. For management tasks, use the software tools provided by your identity or certificate authority to configure PIN policies and certificate access.

Recommendations

Position the reader on a stable desktop near the workstation to avoid strain on the USB connector. Keep card contacts clean and handle cards by the edges to reduce wear. Verify that system middleware and drivers are up to date for best interoperability with authentication and signing applications.
