HDD Western Digital 12 TB 3,5 ίντσες Serial ATA III Ultrastar He12

Western Digital Ultrastar He12 is a 3.5" enterprise HDD offering 12 TB of native capacity, a Serial ATA III interface and 7200 RPM performance. Built with fourth-generation HelioSeal® helium technology and PMR recording, this drive is designed for high-capacity data center and enterprise storage systems and targets a 2.5M hours MTBF for sustained reliability.

Advantages

The Ultrastar He12 provides increased capacity in an 8-disk helium design, delivering 20% more usable storage compared with the prior 7-disk generation. Its helium-filled enclosure reduces power consumption and enables a lower power profile while maintaining enterprise-class reliability. With a 256 MB buffer, 7200 RPM speed and PMR technology, the drive is drop-in ready for common enterprise-capacity applications and large-scale storage arrays.

Suitable for

• Data center bulk storage and cold/nearline archives
• Enterprise storage arrays and tape replacement solutions
• High-capacity NAS and object storage platforms
• Applications requiring long MTBF and consistent uptime

How to use

Install the Ultrastar He12 in a compatible 3.5" drive bay or enclosure that supports Serial ATA III. Follow standard enterprise installation procedures: ensure the host controller supports the drive, mount the drive in the server or chassis with proper vibration isolation and cooling, connect SATA power and data cables, and configure RAID or storage pool settings according to your system requirements. Perform firmware updates and drive diagnostics as recommended by Western Digital before putting the drive into production.

Recommendations

Use the Ultrastar He12 for high-density, write-intensive or mixed workloads up to the rated annual workload limit (up to 550 TB/year). Maintain adequate cooling and stable operating conditions, and include redundancy (RAID or erasure coding) for critical data to take advantage of the drive’s enterprise reliability.
