The Stanley FATMAX Xtreme Chalk Line 0-47-480 is a durable chalk line tool designed for precise marking over long distances. It combines a robust case, a high-capacity chalk reservoir and a reliable winding mechanism to support construction and DIY layout tasks.

Advantages

The tool offers a 5:1 gear ratio for quick rewind and a steel crank handle for durable operation. It includes 100 ft of 50 lb twisted polyester/cotton line with improved abrasion resistance, a handle that locks into the case to hold the string, and on-board hook storage with a specially designed hook that can grab on the side, top or bottom. The unit holds over 1.5 oz of chalk and has an integrated belt clip; it can also be used vertically as a plumb bob when needed.

How to use

Fill the chalk reservoir with appropriate chalk powder, extend the line to the required length and anchor the hook to the reference point. Pull the line taut, lock the handle if needed to keep the string in place, then snap the line against the surface to leave a visible chalk mark. Rewind the line using the crank; the 5:1 gear ratio reduces effort and speeds up retraction. For vertical alignment, allow the unit to hang as a plumb bob.

Recommendations

Use compatible chalk powder to avoid clogging, periodically inspect the twisted polyester/cotton line for wear, and store the tool with the line retracted and handle locked to prolong service life. For best visibility, use darker chalk on light surfaces and lighter chalk on dark surfaces.
