The EFB Elektronik 399900.1 visual locator is a compact handheld device for inspection and fault finding in fiber optic systems. Designed for daily use in the field, industrial environments and laboratories, it checks singlemode and multimode optical fibers, verifies faulty fiber-optic components and helps identify and patch fibers. The locator operates at a visible red wavelength of 635 nm and offers an operation distance of up to approximately 5 km due to its higher light output. It is compatible with 2.5 mm ferrule connectors including DIN, E2000, FC, SC and ST.

Advantages

The unit provides visible red light at 635 nm for easier fault location, a compact and portable form factor suitable for field and laboratory use, and compatibility with common 2.5 mm ferrule connectors (DIN, E2000, FC, SC, ST). Its higher optical power enables testing over an operation distance of around 5 km.

Suitable for

• Visual fault finding on singlemode and multimode fibers
• Checking and identifying fiber-optic connectors and patched lines
• Inspecting faulty fiber-optic components in the field, industrial sites or labs

Key specifications

• Brand: EFB Elektronik
• Model / MPN: 399900.1
• EAN: 4049759064068
• Wavelength: 635 nm (visible red)
• Compatible ferrules/connectors: 2.5 mm ferrule — DIN, E2000, FC, SC, ST
• Approximate operation distance: up to 5 km
• Power supply: AAA alkaline batteries
• Dimensions (W×D×H): 12 × 167 × 12 mm

How to use

Insert AAA alkaline batteries, connect the visual locator to the fiber connector or ferrule adapter matching the connector type, then switch the device on to emit visible red light at 635 nm. Visually inspect the fiber along its length and the connector ends to locate breaks, bends or faulty splices. Use the unit to identify individual fibers when patching or routing fiber lines.

Recommendations

Do not look directly into the light source. Use the locator only with compatible 2.5 mm ferrule connectors and follow standard fiber handling and safety procedures. For accurate loss measurements use appropriate calibrated OLTS instruments; this visual locator is intended for identification and fault finding rather than precision attenuation measurement.
