HDD IBM 1,2 TB 2,5 inch SAS 10000 rpm G2HS

IBM 1.2 TB 10,000 rpm 6 Gbps 2.5-inch SAS hard drives are available in G2HS hot-swap and SED hot-swap variants and provide high capacity in a 2.5-inch form factor. The drives support SAS connectivity for reliable data transfer and are RoHS compliant. The G2HS model offers hot-swap flexibility while the SED model adds drive-level encryption for enhanced data protection.

Advantages

The IBM 1.2TB 10K SAS drive delivers enterprise-class performance with a 10,000 rpm spindle speed and a 6 Gbps SAS interface, combining higher IOPS and throughput in a 2.5-inch slim-line form factor. The drive family supports S.M.A.R.T. to report potential failures, includes a one-year warranty, and the SED option provides AES-128 drive-level encryption and secure erase capabilities for data-at-rest protection and compliance support when used with compatible controllers and management tools.

Suitable for

• Enterprise servers and storage arrays
• Database and transactional workloads requiring low latency
• Applications needing high-density 2.5-inch storage
• Environments requiring drive-level encryption and secure decommissioning (SED model)

How to use

Install the drive into a compatible 2.5-inch SAS bay or drive carrier following your server or storage system vendor instructions. For hot-swap (G2HS) units, insert and remove drives while the system is powered on according to the chassis and controller guidelines. For the SED model, enable encryption and manage keys using supported ServeRAID controllers, optional Advanced Feature Keys, or the MegaRAID Management Suite (MMS/MSM) as applicable. Use S.M.A.R.T.-capable utilities to monitor drive health and plan replacements before failures occur.

Recommendations

Use the G2HS hot-swap model where serviceability and minimal downtime are required; choose the SED variant when drive-level AES-128 encryption and secure erase are needed for regulatory compliance or protection of sensitive data. Ensure firmware, controller drivers, and management software are up to date and follow vendor guidance for RAID configurations and key management.
