The BlueOptics CAB-STK-E-0.5M-BL InfiniBand fibre optic cable is a 0.5 m black patch cable engineered for short-reach, high-performance data links. Designed for use in data centres and server rooms, this cable provides a compact connection option where low latency and minimal signal loss are required. The cable's construction supports the physical demands of dense rack and blade server environments while preserving signal integrity for InfiniBand networks.

Advantages

This 0.5 m fibre optic cable offers low insertion loss and stable optical performance suitable for high-speed interconnects. Its short length reduces signal attenuation and crosstalk in confined cabling runs, and the cable's black jacket provides straightforward visual identification in mixed-colour installations. The build balances flexibility and durability to withstand typical handling during installation and maintenance.

Suitable for

• Short-reach links between switches, host adapters and storage in data centres
• High-performance computing clusters using InfiniBand connectivity
• Dense rack or blade server environments where cable length must be minimized
• Patch panels and top-of-rack connections requiring compact fibre links

Key specifications

• Cable type: multimode/InfiniBand-compatible fibre optic patch cable
• Length: 0.5 m
• Colour: black outer jacket
• Connector type: designed for InfiniBand interconnects (compatible with standard InfiniBand fibre connectors)
• Typical use: short-distance, high-throughput optical data links

How to use

Route the BlueOptics 0.5 m fibre patch cable between the InfiniBand ports on your devices, ensuring connectors are clean and seated firmly into the transceiver or port. Avoid sharp bends and maintain the cable bend radius recommended by the equipment manufacturer. For best optical performance, inspect connector endfaces with a fibre inspection tool and clean as needed before insertion. Secure cables to prevent strain on the connectors and keep the run free from tight kinks or excessive compression.

Recommendations

Use this short 0.5 m cable for direct connections in dense server environments and between closely placed devices to minimize latency and signal attenuation. Maintain proper handling practices: clean connectors before each connection, avoid bending beyond the specified radius, and replace the cable if outer jacket damage or connector wear is visible.
